Dance Platform collapses at Colombo Hilton

Several persons were injured when the platform of a dance floor for a new year’s eve party collapsed at the Colombo Hilton.
Eyewitnesses said that the entire stage collapsed and more than 150 persons were on the dance floor at the time of the incident.Several persons had cut injuries, fractures and bruises among other injuries. Confusion and panic reigned while the orgiansers were trying to keep the show going on.
Some of the private hospital ambulances were called in while most opted to take the injured by their own private vehicles.
Hotel staff said they were not directly involved in organizing the event, but the management declined to comment saying they were due to issue a statement on the incident.
After the injured were removed and the debris were cleared the party continued.
