Justin Bieber’s newest friend is Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani schoolgirl who survived an attack by the Taliban and now advocates for girls’ rights.
Yousafzai has met with President Barack Obama, Queen Elizabeth II and many others, but her online encounter with Bieber on Wednesday is likely to make her the envy of teen girls around the world.
Bieber, 20, made sure his fans knew, posting a screenshot of his conversation with the 17-year-old activist on Twitter:

Justin Bieber sold his house in a gated community in Calabasas for $7.2 million, public records now show. Reality TV personality Khloe Kardashian was the buyer.
The location puts Kardashian in proximity to sister Kourtney should either need to borrow a cup of sugar or perhaps several eggs. Kourtney bought the nearby home of retired pro football player Keyshawn Johnson earlier this spring.
Khloe Kardashian’s new house, built in 2005 and set on a 1.3 acres, was not listed for sale. Tax records show it has at least six bedrooms and 9,214 square feet of living space. That’s a move up from the 8,000-square-foot Tarzana digs she previously shared with Lamar Odom.
Earlier marketing materials for the house, which was once home to actor Eddie Murphy’s ex, Nicole Murphy, describe it as Spanish in style with hand-painted tiles, a courtyard, a 200-bottle wine cellar, six fireplaces, an elevator and two three-car garages. There’s a swimming pool with a spa, a barbecue and a one-bedroom, one-bathroom casita with a kitchen.
Bieber, 20, bought the property two years ago for $6.5 million.
After run-ins with the police earlier this year in Miami and Calabasas, the pop star is once again in the news. This time it's for a tape from five years ago showing him telling a joke using a racist slur. He has issued an apology.
