Case against Iraj Weeraratne dismissed

The Colombo Commercial High Court dismissed an intellectual property case filed against singer Iraj Weeraratne over the song ‘Mata Aloke Genadevi’ when it was taken up for hearing today.
The case had been filed by the wife of late songwriter Herbert M. Seneviratne claiming the song was taken off a track owned by her husband.
She had demanded Rs 10 million as compensation from the singer over the track which is a big hit in Sri Lanka.
However on hearing the case today the Colombo Commercial High Court dismissed the case filed against the singer.
