Isipathana rout Thomians 61-0

Isipathana proved to be too good for S. Thomas’ as they routed them by 61 points to nil in the first match of the Singer U-20 Cup Championship encounter played at Havelock Park last evening.
Isipathana, having secured five wins in the first round matches showed that they were capable of more in the tournament as they maintained their unbeaten record in style.
Isipathana opened the floodgates in the second half having taken a slender 15-0 lead at the lemons as they posted 46 points in the second session to rattle the hapless Thomians.
The Isipathana scoring spree was initiated by their No 8 Omalka Gunaratne who scored three tries while fly half Kongahawatte, skipper R. Silva along with Dissanayake, Henakanakanamage and Dilshan scored two tries each.
Dilshan also converted four of the tries and booted over a 25-metre penalty which ensured a convincing win for the green shirts.
