(News1st) During the past week, we at News 1st has been reporting on the development seen in the city of Colombo and its suburbs.
The following is another report of an area that has seen that dawn of development.
The walking path that can been seen at Independence Square in Colombo.
It was over two years ago that it was decided to set up a walking path in the area for the betterment of the general public’s health.
The development programme, which was spearheaded by the Ministry of Defense and Urban Development, began to add a new look to the environment of this area.
A number of buildings, walls and other constructions deemed unimportant were thus removed.
After bringing about the beauty of the park that was hidden away due to the improper construction, ideas of the architects and city planners of the UDA were brought to life.
It was the Sri Lanka Army personnel who toiled to create the picturesque scene that you see today.
The area not only serves as a point for physical exercises but also as a place for people to relax.
