Northern Railway Line night mail train services cancelled
Meanwhile, train operations between Pothuhera and Polgahawela, where a train derailed, have been restored.
The Railway Control Room raid that the night mail train from Trincomalee to Batticaloa had derailed at around 02.45 on Tuesday morning. Two compartments of the Trincomalee – Batticaloa night mail train had derailed.
Operations along the northern tracks were disrupted as a result of the derailment. The railways control room said that train operations from Colombo to Polgahawela and back to Colombo have been restricted to Kurunegala.
Commuters have been inconvenienced as a result of these moves.
