The producers of actor Vijay’s soon-to-be-released film Kaththi issued a clarification about what they termed a misinformation campaign by some vested interests against the production company. There had been allegations that the company had business links with Sri Lankan president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

At a packed press conference held in the city on Tuesday, Subaskaran Allirajah, chairman, Lyca Group of Companies, citing a few incidents where the group was portrayed wrongly in a section of the media, denied he had any business links with the Rajapaksa family.

Regarding an image of the logo of Lycamobiles appearing in the background at the Sri Lanka-sponsored Commonwealth Business forum, Mr. Subaskaran alleged that the image was ‘morphed’ and the company has lodged a complaint with the cyber crime division of the Chennai City Police.

To a query about rumours of the producers planning to sell the movie, Mr. Subaskaran said that there was no such move and added that they plan to produce Hindi movies too.
On the reason for shifting from Gnanam Production, under whose banner Pirivom Santhipom was produced, he said that it was because Lyca had a better brand value.
The audio launch of Kaththi would be held on September 18. (The Hindu)
