Colombo rocked for 24 hours last weekend, when Sunsilk brought to life their new variant, Perfect Straight, in a 24 hour lock down party, at the Convention Centre in Fort, the most fashionable party of the year which took the city by storm. Over 50 celebrities made their grand appearances at all hours of the day and night adding a splash of glamour, fashion, style, colour and the high life into Sri Lanka’s first ever 24 hour lock down party by a brand.
From fashionistas to models, beauticians to hairdressers, film stars and teledrama personalities Colombo’s fashion and style icons and celebrities rocked the Convention Centre with their sheer elegance and fashionable presence, dazzling the crowds with their stunning entrances and moving down the hall to their celebrity niche with their partners or entourages in sweeping style.
The convention Centre turned a sea of purple as over a 4000 people rocked all day and night as the party tempo increased with guest performances by singing sensation and party icon Umaria and the sounds of live bands Flame and Audio Squad supported by a string of Sri Lanka’s top DJs such as Upul, Jay Vibes, Miss Flame and Azmath who kept the party s rocking for 24 hours. Adding an international flavor to the weekend nonstop party was DJ Nuthiya from Malaysia whose techno treats kept up an upbeat vibe.

India’s popular Bollywood playback singer, composer and lyricist Mika Singh will perform live in Sri Lanka on June 7 at the BMICH main hall from 8 pm onwards.
The concert was earlier planned at the CR and FC Grounds, but the organisers changed the venue due to the current weather conditions.
Mika who shot to fame with several hit songs and albums is among the top bracket in the Indian music scene today.
The unique event is presented in Sri Lanka by Wizcraft, AKP and Amuseum Special Events.

The next Colombo PHP meet-up will be held on 29 May at the Leapset Engineering Centre. The main focus of the session will be an introduction into Phalcon; a PHP code framework that is currently the fastest out there.
The key speaker for the meetup will be Sumith Gunasekera, a senior technical lead at Leapset, with over 13 years of experience in the industry. Sumith specialises in PHP, Javascript and C++ and has played key roles in engineering Leapset’s online ordering system and Leapset insights, a web based business analytics service.
The ‘PHP developers Sri Lanka’ have been hosting meetups since 2011. PHP meetup is a brainchild of Webgurus International Ltd , an award winning Web development firm based in Netherlands, who recognised the need for a forum for developers to come together to exchange ideas and skills and learn new things. Meetups like this are intended to keep developers up to date with the latest technology available worldwide and bring quality and international standards to the work they do here.

For the third consecutive year, the Colombo Cycle Fun Ride will be held giving riders a safe and fun leisure ride around Colombo and its suburbs.
Organisers said the Colombo Cycle Fun Ride 2014, to be held on June 8 at the CR and FC grounds, will see a 3 km ride for kids and a 20 km ride for those over 15 years.
A carnival style atmosphere with cycle shops, accessories stalls, food and beverage stalls, BBQ lunch and music will add color to the annual event.
Entrance for the ride is free but cyclists must register at the front desk on the day of the event.
Pedal Pushers, the main organizers, say their aim is to promote cycling as a lifestyle and also as a conscious effort to lessen Sri Lanka’s role in carbon foot printing.
“Cycling throws a different perspective on life,” they said on the Facebook event page.
“We believe, exercise through cycling is good for a persons mental and and physical well being, and a healthy individual is a positive thinker,” the organisers added.

Kishani Jayasinghe, an international opera singer, will sing for the benefit of her old school Visakha Vidyalaya later this month. She will be accompanied by Soundarie David-Rodrigo (piano), Surekha Amerasinghe (flute), Satish Casie Chetty (violin) and Shamistha de Silva (cello).

She has won many prizes in acclaimed International competitions held in countries like Italy and France (being the only South Asian representative). The concert for Visakha will be a treat indeed.
