UNP Parliamentarian Rosy Senanaye says that the government has failed in building relations with key countries that Sri Lanka engages with.
She expressed these views in an exclusive interview with News1st’s Bureau Chief in Washington Gadaafi Ismail.
UNP Parliamentarian, Rosy Senanayake expressed following views,
In a post war situation I think we need to basically, re-portray, re-brand Sri Lanka. I strongly believe that the government has failed in building relations with key countries that we deal with in the last couple of years. When the government fails to have good relations with the people – we need to have good relations; I strongly believe that our foreign relations are not adequate enough for us to basically portray us in the right light and because we have been arrogant, we have failed to do what is right after the war.

We have won the war. I give all the credit to the President and the government for winning the war. But after the war… When we talk about the LLRC Report, when we talk about the recommendations, when we talk about reconciliation. I think there has been a lapse there has been a lethargicness – I think they have been lethargic in implementing the recommendations, there has been a lack of interest. “

It was a common occurrence to see Rosy behind Dayasiri and Dayasiri behind Rosy at numerous occasions. Between their close friendship there had been some interesting stories spoken also.

Whatever the friendship was Dayasiri left the UNP and joined the government. Those who were like a shadow to Dayasiri, those who associated with him all day and also who said good about him made several allegations against him.

Dayasiri had added that the person who slung mud him most during the election time was Rosy. This was questioned by Rosy at an interview she had give to the Lankadeepa paper

‘So how are you Rosy’?

‘I am keeping well, but have some sadness’.
‘Why are you telling you are sad’?

‘See what is happening in the country. When one sees them who do are those who do not feel sad’.
‘What are they’?

‘A few days ago the world’s children day was held. This day was celebrated at a time when one out of three children is suffering from malnutrition. In Nuwara Eliya and Badulla districts 44% of the children have less decayed. The women too are in a decayed condition; do not show good health conditions. They do not have a proper livelihood with a very poor economic situation. All what the government states that the income of perosnal individuals have been increased, practically it is not seen’.

‘Member of parliament of UNP Dayasiri left and joined the government. Don’t you feel sad about it’?
‘It is a loss to the UNP. Whoever who leaves is a loss to the opposition, the UNP’

‘Why did he leave’?
‘There are personal views behind these happenings. Joining the government is on a purpose. These are not unfamiliar happenings’

‘How did you see Dayasiri as a person’?
‘He was a popular singer.A person who is attracted to people and one who can win the hearts of people and a good politician. To prove it he must show results.’

‘You were a closely connected to his family. How was the past that was spent’?
‘I do not like to comment on his and his family members at a personal level. I have certain principles and hence these views I do not let out. You are media personnel, when there are more serious burning matters in this country you should question on those matters.’

‘There are certain gossip that is spoken about you and Dayasiri. Are you aware of those’?
‘Do not question me about Dayasiri, you could ask any other question’
