Fonseka arrived at the Malwathu Viharaya to receive blessings from Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero., the chief prelate of the Malwathu chapter of the Siam Sect
The Democratic Party leader thereafter visited Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha Thera, chief prelate of the Asgiri Chapter of the Siam Sect and received his blessings.
“It is essential that a common candidate be found to contest the presidential election from the opposition parties in order to save this country from its corrupt political system. But this should be done when a presidential election is close at hand. A person who has good character and has the trust of the people should be selected at the appropriate time. And if the right person is selected at this instance, I believe that the common candidate can triumph.”
