Mattala airport prepares for another take-off

The government is setting up a storage facility capable of holding three million litres of aviation fuel.
This fuel storage facility will be opened very soon, Airport and Aviation Services Ltd. chairman Prasanna Wickremasuriya told AdaderanaBiz.
“This storage facility will sell fuel to aircraft,” he added.
While the Abu Dhabi based Rotana Jet is preparing to fly to Mattala Air Arabia is also preparing to resume its flights to Mattala. FlyDubai is already operating flights to Mattala.
As reported by AdaderanaBiz recently, Qatar and Etihad Airways are carrying out feasibility studies for their flights to the Mattala international airport.


Rotana Jet decides on flights to Mattala

Abu Dhabi based Rotana Jet has decided to commence flights to Mattala beginning 09 April this year. AdaderanaBiz reported earlier that the airlines is planning to begin its flights to Sri Lanka’s newest international airport.
Accordingly, Rotana Jet airways will operate flights thrice a week to Sri Lanka’s Mattala and Katunayake international airports.
An Airbus 319 will be utilized for these flights and it would leave to Sri Lanka from Abu Dhabi’s Al Bateen airport on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
These flights are later scheduled to be increased to six per week.
